Team Daiwa Seat Box for beginners

Daiwa's Entry Level Starter Plastic Fishing Seat Box

Over the years I have owned so much Daiwa fishing gear, it's a name that I trust to produce some excellent high quality fishing tackle.  Today, I am looking at the entry level Team Daiwa Seat Box, specifically the TDSB1 model.

There is not much information found for this specific model - even on the manufacturers website - but I will do my best to show the features, what makes it an ideal budget seat and what's included in the box.

The first thing I notice about this seat box is the almighty padded strap.  Unlike the Shakespeare Starter Fishing Seat Box the TDSB1 comes complete with heavy duty padded strap which makes carrying this box much easier once filled with bait and other fishing tackle.

The black plastic casing with a domineering golden "Team Daiwa" logo on the front makes your fishing setup look very professional without hurting your wallet too much.

Size wise, this is the slightly larger model (compared to the TDSB2) at:

  • 54cm, Width
  • 37cm Depth
  • 44cm Height

Which is more than large enough to store all required fishing tackle, bait and gloves (for those cold winter mornings!).

What's the difference between the TDSB1 and the TDSB2?

The main difference is the size.  The TDSB1 is slightly larger by 7cm in width, which is much better for adults and those of us who no longer fit into medium/large t-shirts. Both models are made from the same material, have the same logo, and the same accessories included in the price.

Other than that, both models come with cushions, straps and can be upgraded with the Team Daiwa side tray (sold separately).

The price difference is about £5.00 depending on stock levels and the retailer with the larger model (TDSB1) being the focus of this review.

What's included with the Daiwa Seat Box?

As with all beginner / entry level seat boxes, the list of accessories is quite limited, but this keeps the costs down - especially for those just getting into fishing.

  • Padded Strap

Like most fishing boxes the strap that is included can make the difference between a sore neck for the day, or a nice relaxing fishing experience.  I absolutely love that the Daiwa TDSB1 fishing box comes with a strap that has some incredible padding.  Many new anglers will not realise how heavy their gear will become over time, and believe me when I say this "comfort is key".

For pegs a fair old walk away from your vehicle, having any form of padding will make all the difference.

  • Padded Seat Cushion

Going along the same comfort lines, the journey to your peg may be delightful, but if the majority of your fishing day will be spent sat on your bum - you need to ensure it's comfy.

This fishing seat box comes complete with a cushion ready to take your comfort level up a notch compared to sitting on a non-padded seat box.  My only concern is the thickness of the cushion - it doesn't look too thick.  Maybe I'm expecting too much?

The not so good

I appreciate the pricing aspect of the entry level seat box, but I would have liked a side tray to be included in the price.  Starting at around £5,00 it's not too much to consider, however I feel every seat box should include a place to put your bait / tackle (or mug of hot tea).

As mentioned previously, I feel a lot of websites don't really show everything about this fishing box with their efforts purely focussing on the more expensive models.

Would I buy it?

A very similar situation to the Shakespeare entry level fishing seat box, the lack of adjustable legs for my preferred peg makes it quite difficult for me to personally purchase this.

For a starter box, I really do love that it comes complete with both a padded shoulder strap and cushion - which does make me more confident in recommending it too new anglers, especially mobile user who want to move between pegs quickly and without enduring shoulder/neck pain.

Team Daiwa have been making fishing accessories for decades, so I feel confident that any issues relating to the seat box would be addressed and resolved without issue.
